More stuff

I figured I would start blogging more on what I've been doing. Not much (it's been vacation!)

But, I am still looking for a way to give my FTP server a domain name other than 65.175.195.33. It's not going so well. I tried turning it into a HTTP server, but that didn't work. I found out what port 990 did, though. It is FTPS, a more secure FTP server. I guess that means all transfers are encoded so they can not be spied on. Is that correct?

Also, any advice on giving it a domain name?

  1. I don't think you can spoof the traffic from the outside world. Did you find a site, articles or book that explains the system of IP addressing?
